One thing a lot of folks know about me is my love for animals. I have been an avid if not at times venomous supporter of animal rights. I have been a more off than on vegetarian for the better part of 20 years. I used to host awareness fairs at local schools in my younger days for the National Anti-Vivisection Society. I am not some PETA freak throwing blood on people who wear fur, but I do support animal rights causes when it comes to abuse all while eating a burger at times. Hypocritical? You bet. However I am more against abuse over the whole meat is murder thing like the recent Conklin Dairy Farms case. I digress. I have pets and I absolutely 100% adore my dog Bean. She is a little fat puggle that from time to time I like to take to the Groomer to get a bath and her nails done. I used to go to one of the big chain pet stores because it was just really convenient for me but I don’t think they ever really did an amazing job. Well, no more of that. Not since I found Fred Novak and her Dog House Grooming Salon in Lakewood.
Let me first say Fred is a trip. She is hilarious, and absolutely gorgeous. She is also a damn good Groomer. She has a little space in Lakewood over on Bonnieview Ave. Yeah, over by the head shop on Detroit. Many folks might know Fred from some of her modeling. She does modeling for Dr. Sketchy’s Art School classes over at the Beachland and could quite possibly be Cleveland’s cover girl for all sci-fi, fantasy and comic book geeks. Aside from the wonderfulness that is Fred quite honestly she is an amazing Groomer. So if you are looking to get the pooch done up she has a full service pet grooming salon. Her shop is unassuming and quaint and her prices are very affordable. You can contact Fred to make an appointment by calling The Doghouse at 216-221-4611. Tell her you want the 52 Weeks special, and no there really isn’t a 52 Weeks of Cleveland special, but her prices are damn good anyhow.
